how was the show tonight?

first let me say thanks to kinsee and jaime for having me involved in this show. i really appreciate being asked and the praise that you both have given me.

so, when i first saw the space a couple days ago i have to admit i thought it looked a little ragged (it wasn’t that bad, i’m exaggerating). don’t get me wrong, i like rough and gritty, but hanging art on grit can be a little iffy. but kinsee and jaime did a great job of cleaning the joint up and making it look really nice for the show. i don’t have a before photo but here’s what the space looked like when the show started:

not too many people there at that point, but hey, it was only 7. they had free screen printed one color posters of the flyer image on chip-board - a nice touch:

here i’m standing (with grease-face due to a hot room) in front of a poster that was hanging up above a table with all the artists portfolios:

the blurb next to my name begins “a man of precision and style…”. pff, damn right. haha. oh.

they also had put the names of the artists in vinyl on the floor in front of their pieces. i thought that was cool too:

here’s the way my section of the space looked from afar:

here’s the art of jorge tellaeche, one of the 3 others in the show:

before too long a lot more people showed up:

and some of the attendees were really cute:

and not all the cute ones were canines:

my doll trista got a lot of compliments on that polka-dot dress (that she made from scratch!).

oh, did i mention that dj claire was bringin the funk all night long? this girl knows what real funk and soul is about and she’s got the 45’s to prove it.

if you had walked in at about 10 this is what it was like:

(the image is a little dark. gimme a break it’s just a little digi-snapper - luckily the art is visible)

at the end of the night trista and i pose for a photo in front of my pieces and i end up looking like a damn psychopath - trista’s cute as usual. (sheeit, least i was lookin smooth…oh)

well, so that’s what you missed. overall, it was a good show. i actually sold some pieces this time out, which is good, cuz i owed joeygold 500 bucks.

yeah, well. see you next time.

    Sold!

Great recap with words, pictures and sound. Looks like it was a really good show — and the pantings are sweet! Keep making a name for yourself, you big, sexy “man of precision and style.”

Amazing work, Mikey, and I especially appreciate the U-Tube-gave me a real feel I was actually there! So glad the show was such a success. You deserve it…I still remember the great ‘grafitti’ on your mom’s block wall. It was obvious then that you had the talent to go far-I’m proud to say “I knew you when…”

    Love ya! JackieK
